英語の電話応対

 今日、恥ずかしいことに海外からの電話をまともに受けられなかった。

Do you speak English?

と聞かれているのに、YesともNoとも言えず、ただ「あう…あう…」と唸るしかできなかった。

久々の突然のシチュエーションに頭が真っ白になって思考停止してしまった。

ただ、ただ、残念な一日。

I was sorry that I didn't respond to a phone call from abroad today.

She was asking me, "do you speak English?"

But I said just, "uh...um..."

No word came out. I did not think anything as the phone call in English for the first time in decades suddenly happened.

I really disappoint myself.
